Happy Friday Y’all!

It has been way too long since i’ve posted, but you know how Summer gets. Busy, busy, busy! This is Summer is full of so much wedding planning and getting ready for those Fall celebrations!

Today is all about cakes!

Now, I know that there are so many important elements that make up your special day, but the cake has to be one of my favorites!

As scary as it is, one of the first thing your guests will look at when they enter your reception, is the cake. I look at it as a great way to show everyone who you are! The good thing about having a bride’s cake and groom’s cake, is that you get to show your own personalities in a “tasty” way.

One of the best cakes I ever tasted was a white cake with raspberry filling and buttercream icing from The Cake Guys.

What are some of your favorite cakes?

Happy Friday!

I am beyond excited about today’s post. This woman has created such an amazing array of products and shares the same values every woman, mother, bride and friend should strive after. I have been following her blog ever since I launched B&B back in March & for someone who never strays from her calendar, this woman is phenomenal!

Ladies, I introduce you to Emily Ley:

I emailed her a few week back just hoping for the chance to feature her and she was so quick to respond; I definitely felt that Southern Hospitality! I asked her a few questions about her blog and products and this is what she had to say!:

  • What inspired you to start this business?

I’ve always loved design and the way it can tell a story. After creating paper products for my own wedding, I started dabbling in projects for friends. Emily Ley Paper was born shortly thereafter and quickly grew into a large brand of wedding and social stationery. Since my son was born, we’ve taken a turn towards a more authentic collection of organization products, day planners and gifts for moms. I just love what I get the joy of doing – helping women build joy and simplicity into their days so they can truly focus on what matters most.

  • How have these products affected your life as a mother?
I love my Simplified Planner and use it on a daily basis to help wrangle all the things that need my attention – my family, my home, my work, mySELF and our calendar.
  • What is your favorite product?
Definitely our Simplified Planner. We sold out in three short months last year and it touched my heart to its core that so many women struggled with the same organization challenges that come with trying to do it all and be it all to the people who mean the most to us. Its been one of my greatest joys watching our Simplified Planner transform lives and help families focus on what matters most.
  •  What products would you recommend for future brides and bridesmaids?
I just love our new Simplified Wedding Planner. It’s a gorgeous white leatherette cover with lush gold foil. Inside are 8 super cute, die cut dividers with gold foil labels. A sweet polka dot pattern adorns the inside of the 11 x 11 binder. And one of my favorite parts… is our HOORAY box each one comes inside. It’s a special place to save and hold momentos from your days before you become a Mrs as you plan one of the biggest days of your life.
After spending hours dreaming of being able to just buy everything from her shop, I narrowed it down to my Top Picks!
How Cute is this notepad! Personally, I am a list maker and I
couldn’t think of a better way to show off your style than with
one of these personalized notepads!
Each and every MOH (Maid of Honor) needs a little inspiration when it comes to shower invitations.
These invitations are a perfect way of bringing all your ladies together and celebrating the bride whom you all truly love!
These notecards are perfect for a ‘thank you’ card to use after showers or just
a way to say that you are thinking of someone!
And last, but certainly, not least! My favorite product; the Simplified Planner! The picture above speaks for itself!
I cannot wait to get my hands on one of these June 20th!
SO! If you haven’t already, go check out Emily’s website and while you’re at it swing by her blog!

Happy Friday!

I hope everyone has had a fabulous week! TGIF!

A few months ago I met with one of my dear friends, Kelsey, about her September wedding. While we were talking she took out the book that she had been keeping everything organized in. I had never seen anything like it before, and immediately went and bought one for myself!

I introduce to you:

Smash Book

It is a very special day at Borrowed & Blue because I have become a part of my first vendor family!

The Lovely Find is an adorable southern wedding blog that features every last detail that your little heart desires. I am so thankful to be a part of this vendor family and can’t wait to meet all kinds of new people!

Be sure and click here and go check them out!

This is a very special day for me because this was my first wedding in 2013! This was also my first wedding as strictly the designer. I’m not going to lie, this was a very different role for me, but I am so glad I got to do it alongside Janet!

For those of you that don’t know, Janet is my hair magician. I have been going to her since I began college- that would be 5+ years- and her and John have been together ever since I could remember. They are so precious together and after seeing their adorable engagement I could not wait to see how their wedding would turn out!

These gorgeous pictures were taken at Ft. Worth Belltower by The Three & all of the amazing center pieces and china were from Rent My Dust! I loved getting to meet these three vendors and was impressed by all they had to offer.

So, without further adiue…I present to you Mr. & Mrs. John Thai!

A huge thank you to all the vendors!

This was a gorgeous wedding!

Sunday was such an amazing day because not only did we accomplish a phenomenal styled shoot, but one of my dear friends said “yes” to her best friend when he popped the question!

Alexis and I met back in June when she became my roommate! We were perfect for each other and little did we know we would become roommates after college. This girl has the biggest heart and a passion for the Lord. She followed her dreams and became a Kindergarden teacher before she even graduated!

Trey is the perfect fit for her. Just watching them together makes you a better person.

I could not have been more thrilled when Trey called and asked if he could propose after the shoot! We immediately started planning and everything went perfectly.

Trey & Alexis,

Thank you for being such great friends and being a great example of a couple that follows closely after the Lord. You two are amazing and I am so blessed to have been a part of this day!

Check out the video by Jordan Laessig! Hope you have some tissues!

PS: A special thank you to my girl Elisabeth Carol! The photos you & Kevin captured were breathtaking!

This past weekend was so busy, but full of all the things I love!

Here is a sneak peek of our styled shoot:

On top of all the craziness, we had another surprise up our sleeves.

My roommates’ boyfriend, who was a part of the shoot, had been secretly planning a proposal! I could barely hold myself together. It was so precious!

Thank you to everyone that made this day possible!

I cannot wait to be able to share everything from this day with y’all!

Happy Friday Everyone!

I am so pumped about this weeks post!

Invitations are so important and the one way to my heart.

…here are some very important points to review before designing your invitations:

  • Your invitation is the first thing your guest will see. This sets the mood and style of your wedding.
  • Make them “you”. Your invitations should be something that your guests will open and be reminded of you and your spouse!
  • It’s ok to spend a little extra on the glitter filled envelopes. If that is something you love and you know that it will make you excited to send your invitations, then go for it!
  • Don’t forget the stamp on the return envelope! There are certain rules when it comes to sending invitations and the stamp rule should never go away. Returning the RSVP card should be so easy for your guests. There is nothing like getting an invitation in the mail and then having to hunt down a stamp before you put it in the mailbox.

Have a great weekend!

What is just as important than being with your man on your Big Day?

Your Girls.

(Photo from Style Me Pretty)

These are the ladies that have seen it all. From the one that has been your friend since grade school to the one who you met 3 months ago, but somehow your friendship “just clicked”.

Bridesmaids come in all forms and each play such different roles in making your day come true. I, myself, have been a bridesmaid in too many weddings to count, but I know that I, among the other girls, were chosen because we had a special place in the bride’s heart.

As we have already seen, this Spring is taking a different turn when it comes to what these lovely ladies will be wearing. It’s not the “old fashioned” everyone wears the same dress, same color thing anymore. Some brides are even letting their girls choose whatever dress they want as long as they stay within a color scheme.

I personally love the change. It gives the bridesmaid a chance to stay within the confines of the colors, but have the freedom to be herself. Trust me, there is nothing worse than buying a dress that you know you will NEVER wear again.

What do you think about the change?

Do you think it’s just a fad, or will it continue to catch on in more and more weddings?

Let me know what you think!

Happy First Day of Spring!!

I hope everyone is enjoying the AMAZING weather outside!

I know that I am so ready for long walks outside and late summer nights. There is just something about breaking out after being cooped up all Winter long.

Favorite Things About Spring:
1. Later nights
2. When you get to pair shorts with a long sleeved shirt
3. The most gorgeous sunsets
4. Long walks with the dog
5. The random rain storms at night

What are some of your favorite things about Spring?
