This past weekend was so busy, but full of all the things I love!

Here is a sneak peek of our styled shoot:

On top of all the craziness, we had another surprise up our sleeves.

My roommates’ boyfriend, who was a part of the shoot, had been secretly planning a proposal! I could barely hold myself together. It was so precious!

Thank you to everyone that made this day possible!

I cannot wait to be able to share everything from this day with y’all!

Happy Friday Everyone!

I am so pumped about this weeks post!

Invitations are so important and the one way to my heart.

…here are some very important points to review before designing your invitations:

  • Your invitation is the first thing your guest will see. This sets the mood and style of your wedding.
  • Make them “you”. Your invitations should be something that your guests will open and be reminded of you and your spouse!
  • It’s ok to spend a little extra on the glitter filled envelopes. If that is something you love and you know that it will make you excited to send your invitations, then go for it!
  • Don’t forget the stamp on the return envelope! There are certain rules when it comes to sending invitations and the stamp rule should never go away. Returning the RSVP card should be so easy for your guests. There is nothing like getting an invitation in the mail and then having to hunt down a stamp before you put it in the mailbox.

Have a great weekend!

What is just as important than being with your man on your Big Day?

Your Girls.

(Photo from Style Me Pretty)

These are the ladies that have seen it all. From the one that has been your friend since grade school to the one who you met 3 months ago, but somehow your friendship “just clicked”.

Bridesmaids come in all forms and each play such different roles in making your day come true. I, myself, have been a bridesmaid in too many weddings to count, but I know that I, among the other girls, were chosen because we had a special place in the bride’s heart.

As we have already seen, this Spring is taking a different turn when it comes to what these lovely ladies will be wearing. It’s not the “old fashioned” everyone wears the same dress, same color thing anymore. Some brides are even letting their girls choose whatever dress they want as long as they stay within a color scheme.

I personally love the change. It gives the bridesmaid a chance to stay within the confines of the colors, but have the freedom to be herself. Trust me, there is nothing worse than buying a dress that you know you will NEVER wear again.

What do you think about the change?

Do you think it’s just a fad, or will it continue to catch on in more and more weddings?

Let me know what you think!

Happy First Day of Spring!!

I hope everyone is enjoying the AMAZING weather outside!

I know that I am so ready for long walks outside and late summer nights. There is just something about breaking out after being cooped up all Winter long.

Favorite Things About Spring:
1. Later nights
2. When you get to pair shorts with a long sleeved shirt
3. The most gorgeous sunsets
4. Long walks with the dog
5. The random rain storms at night

What are some of your favorite things about Spring?

Enjoy your Wednesday!

For the past couple of years, my friends and I have made it a tradition to get together every Monday night to watch the Bachelor/Bachelorette. We would make our guesses on who we thought would end up in the top three and see who came the closest. This all began Sophomore year of college in the guys commons – what a weird place to have it- and after graduation it moved to our new apartment in Mansfield! This season was just our roommates from our last year at DBU and we used this as a way to stay in touch with one another and have an excuse to get together.

This being the final show AND the fact that I love entertaining, I used this as an opportunity to practice my decorating skills with what we had in our house already. So I went to the store, grabbed some snacks and went to town.

Have a Fab Friday!

Today is a very special day. Today I am featuring a couple that has a very special place in my heart. These two met while we were in school at Dallas Baptist University. I remember the night that I found out they were dating and ever since then I couldn’t wait till the day they would get married! Elisabeth and I have become such good friends over the past three years and it all started when we worked in the Undergraduate Admissions office together. She is head of heels for this man and I love watching their love grow every day.

Ladies and gentlemen, I introduce to you:

Today is finally here and I could not be more excited! This very moment has been a long time coming and I could not have done without the help and support of my friends and family.

I have been planning events since before college and loved it. I had no idea I would move from banquets and concerts all the way to weddings! My Sophomore year of college a friend of mine asked me to help her plan her wedding and that is where the spark ignited. I got completely caught up in everything and never turned back.

Since then, my dear, dear friend Elisabeth Carol  has been encouraging me to start my own business. Spring Break of 2012, her and I took an Event & Wedding Planning class for another elective credit and that is where Borrowed & Blue was born. Following the class, I continued to take an Entrepreneurship class that just ended up driving me further into the business. This past Fall, not only did I get the blessing of helping plan Elisabeth’s wedding, but the creation process was in full swing. I had already come up with a name, gotten all the right paperwork and with the immense help of Elisabeth, my image was created!

I owned a business.

That sentence still blows my mind.

So, after all that I want to say ‘Thank You’.

Thank you to those that encouraged me when I never thought I could do this. Thank you to those that sat around our Brownhome helping me come up with a name. Thank you Elisabeth for staying up late creating logos and an amazing website. I will never forget you and you all will have a special place in my heart.

All that being said. Let me be the first to present to you Borrowed & Blue. Welcome to my website!
